Container Canopy Installation on a UK Civils Compound

Container Canopy Installation on a UK Civils Compound

This site was mid-dig when the canopy went up. Heras fencing around the perimeter, groundworks underway, welfare units already in place. Two APL containers were brought to site, the canopy frame was spanned between them, and the dark green PVC cover was fitted and tensioned — all without slowing anything else down.

The covered space between the containers gets used for everything on a site like this. Plant storage, materials, tools, welfare overflow. The clear span interior with no internal posts gives full height access throughout, and the cherry picker visible inside at the time of install gives a sense of the internal clearance. The structure went up while groundworks were already in progress around it — no site shutdown, no waiting for other works to finish.

Having a proper covered compound in place from the start of a project keeps the site CDM compliant and organised throughout. It's a much cleaner solution than improvising with tarps or scrambling for portacabins mid-project.
